Julie Austad's 2006 Mustang, "EVO"
I bought "EVO" January 14, 2006. It was plain Legend Lime green, no spoiler, stripes or anything. I was happy with it, but everyone who saw it had an immediate dislike for it, and some thought it looked like a giant "loogey".
In March of 2006, I added the spoiler and stripes. The original striper did an extremely poor job, and when the stripes were removed , damaged the spoiler. I took it to a paint shop up here in Everett and they fixed it and painted it black in trade for 3 large pizzas for their shop guys. That weekend, I
took EVO to The Whidbey Cruizers show (it's very first show) and it took first place in 70's-Present.
From there, things escalated, and in the last 2+ years that I've owned it, I've done the following to it: Interior-changed the cloth seats to leather (which is very labor intensive); installed a real carbon fiber dash/console/door kit; added billet door lock pins, radio knob, A/C knobs, headlight knob, shift boot ring, and engraved V6 billet shift ball. Engine Bay--Added a custom color-matched plenum cover & Tunabled Induction cold air intake with SCT tune; added red Mustang emblem engine bay caps & A/C caps in billet (from Shelby Performance); neon green wire loom; MRT black hood lifts; and radiator cover extensions with hood prop delete plug. A friend helped me switch out the stock manual shifter to a Hurst Competition Plus short shift and convert it from single exhaust to true dual exhaust with a cat-back system including X-pipe & mids from Pypes and Magnaflow Mufflers & tips. I replaced the stock black steel wheels and hubcaps with the current V6 stock wheels & spinners. I also added a black front chin spoiler. I added the running ponies to my rear side marker lights (which few people have noticed). I also took it down to Horsepower Ranch to have it dyno'd, and it pulled 253hp at the crank and 215rwhp and that was only in 4th gear (John forgot about 5th gear). It was at 134mph at 5600rpm which is pretty good for a V6. So far, I have had it up to 110 at 3000rpm in 5th gear, but it still had plenty of room to go.
Because Legend Lime is a limited production color, there is a registry out there for them. There are over 500 of us nationwide who have registered our cars. I am #339. I have the LLR dataplate on my radiator cover and the LLR dash plaque (looks kind of like the Shelby one). On April 20, 2008, several of us went down to California to Knott's Berry Farm and entered our cars in the Fabulous Fords Forever show. I was lined up with 15 other Legend Lime Mustangs. After wandering all over the show looking at over 2000 cars, I decided to sit and rest a while behind my car. Soon there was a fellow asking me all kinds of questions about the car and said he had taken some pictures of it as well. When he introduced himself, he was from 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords magazine! Thus, there is now a picture and a caption of my engine bay in the magazine for October 2008! EVO is now famous! I've had several of the people from the Legend Lime Registry forums contact me and say they have seen the car in the magazine. It's now out on the shelves.
