Mustangs for the Cure

"Mystical Build"

By Dick Knight

We have the opportunity in life to help in many ways, but here is a way to pay back in a BIG way.  Mary Jean Wesche, the editor of the Mustang Times, started the Mystical build with the donation of a Dynacorn 1967 Mustang Fastback body.  The motor will be the new Boss 302 donated by Ford Motor Company, the interior is being donated by TMI, and best of all, all of the proceeds are to go to the Susan G. Komen foundation for Breast Cancer research.  Maybe we haven't all been touched with cancer, but we do know this is a very worthy cause.  Because of the cause, Mustangs Northwest has donated $1000 in parts, and has challenged all of the other MCA clubs to do the same.  Most of the clubs are non-profit organizations and donate each and every year to some charity.  Why not put $1000 towards this build???  One other way you can contribute to this cause, is to coordinate with a retailer or wholesaler that can and will donate.  Sometimes all we have to do is ask and we shall receive.  Just for asking, Scott Drake was willing to donate to the cause, and with the help of Scott and Specialty Wheels, we have raised an additional $1700 in parts for this charity.  I can't think of a more worthwhile opportunity to give back to society.  Maybe some day this disease will be more controllable.  Every time I look at my Mustang I have to remember a friend that died of cancer.  He was a great inspiration to me while I was building my car, and helped me to stay interested in this great hobby.   LET'S ALL GIVE SOMETHING BACK!!!  Every little bit will help.

Stay tuned for more updates! — The Mystical build will be unveiled for the 45th Anniversary of the Mustang next April.

"Seattle Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk"

By Janell Seabrook

On Friday September 12th, 2008, Mustangs Northwest Members, Janell Seabrook and Keri Trine, along with their cousin Holly Brown, embarked on an amazing journey.  For months they had trained, held fundraisers, and prepared to walk 60 miles in the Seattle Breast Cancer 3-Day to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.  Over the course of three days, these three women beat the pavement, proudly wearing their Pink Mustang hats—all in the name of several Mustangs Northwest Members, Friends, and Family members who are Breast Cancer Survivors or who are otherwise affected by this horrible disease.  The first two days of the 3-Day route took them from Bellevue Community college, through downtown Bellevue (we even passed Bel-Kirk Mustang!), Redmond, Kirkland, and two overnight stays camping at Marymoor Park.  On the third day, they were bused down to the arboretum, where they walked over the Mountlake cut, through the UW campus, around Greenlake, through Downtown Seattle, and finally ending at Memorial Stadium.

Janell, Keri, and Holly would like to thank Mustangs Northwest for their generous support of our team, "Sisters for Life" and continued dedication to contributing to charities that support Breast Cancer research and the fight for the Cure!  Together we WILL find a cure—because Everyone Deserves a Lifetime!
