2009 RU Banquet

“ROUNDUP BANQUET”

By Jeanie McCain

July 18, 2009  -  The atrium at the Embassy Suites in Bellevue provided a very tropical setting, and the guests did indeed come attired in flowered shirts and flip flops for our luau Banquet on Saturday evening.  Some of our guests, (not to mention the names of our soon to be married members), even arrived attired in grass skirts and other more traditional island garb.

Harry and his wonderful group of musicians and dancers, kept us entertained during the evening – despite having to deal with the hotel’s noise patrol.  The hotel was concerned that we would bother the other guests, but I’m guessing from the number of folks out on the balconies dancing along, that we didn’t actually bother anyone.  It was great fun watching the dancers interact with the guests, and fun being a part of it – even if I did manage to embarrass myself – I don’t have those isolation skills needed to move the hips and keep the upper body still.

After I presented a thank you award to Rick Schmidt from NPD for being there for us for all these years, he got to turn the tables and make a presentation of his own.  Rick, with assistance from Billy Smallwood, presented Steve Saleen with a Lee Iacocca Award of Excellence.  Mustangs Northwest is honored to have been chosen to make the presentation and the award itself includes our name, the date and Roundup.  The best part -  we managed to keep the secret and Steve was speechless.  The look on his face was priceless.

From the company, to the food, to the entertainment, to the surprises – I think a good time was had by all!
