2010 MCA Hot Rods & Hogs Show in Review

By Janell Seabrook

Known affectionately by Mustangs Northwest members as the “other MCA”, Maltby Christian Assembly hosted its 4th Annual FREE “MCA Hot Rods & Hogs” show on Saturday June 19th.  Emcee’d  by Mustangs Northwest’s own Lance Lambert, and organized by Zebb and Janell

Seabrook, the show featured an appearance by a life-size replica of “Tow Mater”  from Disney’s movie “Cars”, and a mini Kenworth Semi-Truck.  Although the weather forecast was “iffy” and undependable, we knew that we could count on our Mustangs Northwest family to come out in force.  And come out in force they did!  Not only were 32 Mustangs NW cars in attendance, but for the 4th straight year in a row, MNW blew out the competition and swept the “Best Club Attendance” award.  Also winning awards at the show were Tannette Russell for Best Gen 1 Mustang, Connie Trine for Best Mustang Convertible, and Dave Bertino for Best Gen 5 Mustang.  Many thanks to our Mustangs Northwest volunteer judges as well—Joel & Lorilee Schleppi, Scott & Lois Robinson, Terry Green, Rob Ogden, and Shannon Wolk—Although they were not allowed to judge any of the Mustang Categories, they leant their expertise in other areas and helped our judging committee choose the best cars.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the show next year!

Bagley Sweeps Bremerton Car Show

By Mike Godwin

Saturday June 12th was the first day that the local temperature rose above 75 degrees since the first of the year.  The sunshine was abundant and a real spring day was celebrated by all of the local inhabitants.

Although many people took advantage of the weather and made use of the day catching up on yard work, others turned out for car shows.  Over in Bremerton, the main event was a charity car show entitled, “Fenders -N- Spokes”.  This event was a fundraiser for the Relay For Life Team.

Although the turnout for the show was down, a good time was had by all, visiting with old friends, and striking up new friendships.  Several members of MNW made the journey across the Puget Sound waters and participated in the show.  Besides having to start before the sun was even visible in the sky and endure the fear of a Washington State Ferry ride, they were subjected to “Directions By Mike”.  Seems that our very own Mike Godwin provided directions to the show, but forgot to provide the secret decoder rings required to make sense of the directions.  After a few adventures down side streets, everyone did finally make it to the show.

In the class designated 1950 and 1960 Stock, our very own Lori Bagley took first place with her 1966 Coupe.  This award was followed closely by the Longest distance Award.

Then at finale for the show, Mr. David Gross of the Raytheon Company executive board came to podium to award the Raytheon Executive Award.  This custom made trophy featured a torpedo propeller with a clock mounted in the center which was mounted on an exotic African wood stand.  Mr. Gross explained that this was the first time this trophy was ever presented to anyone outside of the Raytheon Torpedo community.  The award was given for his personal selection of the car or bike that represented the Best of the Best at the show.  The award winner selected by David was none other than Lori Bagley.

Fortunately Lori was accompanied by Robin as it took both of them to carry off all the awards that Lori had collected.

Congratulations Lori!

Some of our new members may not know the reason for the Bowling and Car Show.  It is to have fun of course, which we hope you will all have, but it is also a chance to remember our son Brian, who at the age of 28 passed away.  He loved bowling almost as much as he loved Mustangs and had talked about combining Bowling and a Car Show.  We thought that this would be a special way to remember him.

We hope that you can come and enjoy the fun!
